This weeks word is gorgeous. This word is a brilliant, the way it sounds, the combination of letters, it makes it a really different word. The thing that very few people know, is the meaning of the word gorgeous. Most people think it means, pleasant, nice, enjoyable or very good. It actually means brightly coloured, or colourful. I love it when  people call babies gorgeous, it always makes me laugh.

Gorgeous comes from the French word gorgias, which was used in the 1500’s, in France. The word gorgias meant fashionable and elegant. So has everyone learned a lesson today? Don’t call babies gorgeous, it isn’t a compliment.
